Brief about Union Logistics Uganda Ltd:
Union Logistics Uganda Ltd is a reputed organisation in logistics and has been operating in Uganda since more than 10 years and has affiliations across East and Central Africa. The company handles cargo transportation (20‘, 40’ containers, bulk cargo, project cargo, etc. from anywhere to everywhere in the world by Air, Road, Ocean, Rail modes of transport. This includes providing customs clearance and warehousing.
The company has 6 branch/border offices in Uganda
The company has a large fleet of around 40 cargo delivery vehicles and semitrailers of its own.
Role: The Company is looking for a dynamic Sr.business development manager to drive the growth of the company by generating new business opportunities as well as motivating employees. A key component of this job is strategic planning and gain a thorough knowledge of the company's competitors and marketplace. He or she will work closely with the Managing Director to identify potential new clients, draft proposals, review contracts and maintain the current clientele.
Main Job Duties
  • To develop business in various segments such as Large projects, Oil & Gas sector, MNCs, Minerals & mining sector, Government and Ministries, NGOs etc.
  • To develop business with neighboring East African countries and other countries as required.
  • Writing proposals and specifications
  • To motivate & train sales & marketing team to ensure that targets/goals achieved.
  • To achieve and exceed Monthly Sales & revenue targets
  • Competitive Analysis: To develop good client base in order to generate additional revenue and maintain the business.
  • To ensure timely debt payment by clients to company.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation: To be able to resolve any disputes related to sales, operations or invoicing and ensure transparency with clients.
  • To provide monthly sales projections and achievement report with variance reasons & actions on eliminating negative variance
  • To develop market intelligence and utilize the same for further business generation
  • Recommending ways of cutting costs
  • Working with operations and the management team to help make financial decisions
  • Liaising with managerial staff and other colleagues
  • Negotiating and managing all contracts relating to sales.
qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Post Graduate in Sales & Marketing
  • Minimum 6-10 years in a similar senior management position in a logistics/freight forwarding company in East Africa
Skills and Attributes:
  • integrity & Honesty, Result Oriented, , fluent written & verbal communication skill in English, Strong
  • Leadership, Managerial and Organizational Skill Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Sales and Marketing skills Excellent Communication (Oral and Written in English
  • Strong Leadership attributes Good managerial and organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Good strong business acumen
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access etc)
