Position title: Finance Manager
Department: finance
Reports to: group chief finance officer/ managing director
Supervisees: accountants
Hours of work: the job is done within normal working hours
Position Summary and Primary Objective
The Finance Manager's principal challenge is to ensure proper creation and utilization of all financial resources in the Company and ensure they are all harnessed for maximum returns to shareholders. Responsible tor capital management issues, business financing and modeling, fraud and regulation, Management and Financial reporting. The jobholder will be expected to demonstrate commitment and loyalty and perform all duties in accordance with the Company's office routines and procedures, keeping in mind the overall business objectives. The position holder is charged with this responsibility across all the Resolution Health country offices
Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
Knowledge Experience Required Essential

  • Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management‘
  • ACCA or CPA (U) Certification
  • At least 7 years ‘experience in a similar position

  • Excellent knowledge of insurance accounting systems and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills.
Roles And Responsibilities

Monitoring, Controlling and Reporting:

  • Formulate annual budgets in close liaison with department heads for Board approval
  • Analyze and forecast critical financial performance indicators such as loss ratios, management expense ratios, reinsurance ratios, debtors ‘ratios, etc. Also institute cost controls and be able to adequately explain variances between actual figures against budgets targets. Convey these analyses and recommendations to the management and the Board Audit Committee
  • Provide financial oversight tor new project initiatives
  • Prepare financial and management reports as required.
  • Ensure prudent and efficient financial planning tor the Company
  • Ensure optimal cash flow planning/management and maximize returns on investment of any excess funds
  • Management of credit control process with the Partner and clients and ensuring debtor days are kept within Company approved levels and timelines.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and implement agreed strategies in relation to the finance function
Oversee Accounting systems and Procedures:

  • Ensure effective automated financial information systems for the Company
  • Ensure statutory audit canted out within set timelines
  • Ensure the system of internal controls is effective
  • Identity and manage financial and related risks
  • Ensure that policies and procedures meet customer retention goals
  • Ensure effective tax planning
  • Keep abreast with industry and professional trends and developments
