lnterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) is a non-governmental humanitarian national organization established in 1988, duty registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU is involved in programs geared towards the protection and improvement of lives of disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda. lnterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of; Human Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health (HlV&A|DS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management. In partnership with UNHCR the UN Refugee agency, lnterAid Uganda seeks to recruit suitable and qualified persons to fill the following positions based at the Head office and Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement on temporary basis.
Job Title: Best Interest Determination Counsellor
Report to: Child Protection Officers
Duty Station: Kampala, Head Office
Contract Duration: 2 (Two Months). Renewable Subject to availability of funds and performance.
Role Summary
The BID -Counsellor will be responsible tor managing the Best Interest Determination (BID) process in lnterAid' Uganda Urban Refugee Program conduct BID assessment, present cases to the BID panel and follow up on the recommendations from the BID panel.
Person Specification
  • The ideal candidate for the position of BID Counsellor at lnterAid Uganda should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Law, Bachelor of Arts, Education, Social Work and Social Administration, Psychology, Child Development, Child Psychology, Community Psychology, any equivalent.
  • Additional professional training in Child Protection will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of Three years’ relevant experience in implementing child protection programs including BID assessments
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Good interviewing skills
  • Good listener
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of child rights issues and child rights instruments.
