TITLE: Project Field Coordinator
DUTY STATION: National Teachers College-UNYMA (GULU)
BTC Uganda is recruiting ONE Project Field Coordinator in the context of the project ‘Improve Teachers Secondary Education in the National Teachers’ College of Unyama implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports (TIET department) in the National Teachers Colleges. He,/she will focus predominantly on pedagogic professional development of the NTC Lecturers and Teacher-trainees, supporting management and staff of the colleges in the delivery of Active Teaching & Learning methodologies in the NTC and partner secondary schools,
He/she will also contribute to support the strengthening of the colleges’ management and other institutional development activities in the colleges
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
Support for the NTCs staff for implementing a participatory Result Based Management (REM) framework:
  • Participation in the elaboration of the toolboxes and the design of the frameworks
  • Training, supervision and mentoring the management staff
  • Support operational and financial planning (including grants agreements)
  • Support Monitoring and reporting
  • Specific support for the different stakeholders and consultation framework
  • Support networking and institutional learning
Coordinate and follow-up all the activities done in the NTCs with the project (and SDHR)

  • Cross Cutting issues
  • institutional development
  • Follow-up of grant agreements
  •  Follow-up and implementation of SDHR training plan
Specific technical input for Institutional Development
  • implementation oi Performance enhancement plans and Skill development plans {based on Strategic plans and SDHR Training plans)
  • Provide technical experience of institutional development in areas related to strategic planning, financial management, human resource management, academic management and asset management,
  • Support and provide on the-job training and coaching to the college r management, with a view to improving the institutional effectiveness of the NTC in the achievement of its objectives and results;
  • Support the dissemination by the college oi successes and good practices to other colleges and invite where possible offer colleagues from other schools.
Specific Technical input for Pedagogy
  • Provide technical expertise in areas related to teacher education and pedagogy
  • in cooperation with the NTC management, develop capacity building strategies for the NTCs academic and management staff
  • Support and provide on-the-job training and coaching to the NTC management and academic staff in view to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the college NTC
  • Support the dissemination by the college of successes and good practices to the NTC partner secondary schools and to other NTCS4
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of a University degree in Education, in areas of Pedagogy, Teacher training, Academic management or its equivalent;
  • At least 7 years’ proven experience in Teacher Education and Teacher training management
  •  Proven expertise in student centred Active Teaching & Learning approaches and lT4 Education
Minimum Profile:
  • Knowledge of the current secondary education reform in Uganda is an asset
  • Knowledge of BTC education projects and of BTC work methodologies is an asset
  • Excellent English writing skills, and proficient use of Windows Office software
  • Good communication and facilitation skills (interest in participatory approaches and team work)

    Salary Package
BTC will offer a competitive salary package with a Gross monthly income of between UGX 3,900,000 and UGX 4,500,000 depending on the relevant years of work experience, medical insurance for staff, spouse and all biological dependents plus a 13th Month compulsory package paid together with the December salary
