JOB DETAILS:
DISASTER RISK REDUCTION / NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (DRR/NRM) OFFICERS (2 POSITIONS)
Position title: DRR/NRM Officer
Reports to: Resilience program manager
Duty Station:Iriirl Field Officer (1) and Nakapiripirit Field Officer (1)
Job Purpose: Responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive Natural Resource Management and Resilience Strategy across activities.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Work closely with Integrated Water Resource Management(IWRM) and Conflict Qflicers, and Livelihoods Team :5 to coordinate the development and management of natural resources
  • Actively participate in designing, planning and implementing the Natural Resource Management (NRM) and community based disaster risk reduction activities to enhance resilience in the operational areas. -Work closely with IWRM Officer to support the integration of NRM activities within other Nuyok project components
  • Organizing community asset and needs assessments.
  •  Work closely with the Resilience Manager to design and adopt appropriate training materials and tools
  • Strengthen the capacity of program staff, especially community facilitators, on NRM and disaster management skills.
  • Work closely with the Foundational Purpose Team in the development of Village Development and community disaster preparedness Plans
  • Work closely with local government officials to facilitate leveraging of government action for implementing risk informed development actions.
  • Compile data provided at the community level as per project requirements.
  • Develop work plans and reports as per reporting schedules.
  • Keenly analyze project implementation strategies to identify constraints to program success and provide timely recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor in Agriculture, Agro-Forestry, Development Studies, Disaster management, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Natural Resources, Rural Development, or any other related technical field.
  • 2 years of experiences in the area of natural resource management and community resilience or both will be required.
  •  Knowledge on Climate Change and mechanisms for Climate Change Adaptation (CCA)
  • Very good Knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of environment, climate change and/or disaster preparedness
  • Good knowledge (of legal and traditional Natural Resource Management (NRM) legislations/regulations. 1 ‘ A 1
  • Broad knowledge of emerging sustainable and appropriate climate smart technologies.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills >
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and withstand work pressure. g
  • Sensitivity and diplomacy in working with government officials and socially disadvantaged communities.
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines and good team player
  • Excellent computer skills and very good analytical, information management skills.
  • Proven motorcycle riding skills and possession of a valid riding license.
  • Knowledge of Nga‘Karimoiong is an added advantage.
