John Snow, inc. (JSI), a leader in the field of international public health, is currently recruiting positions for the Regional Health integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango (RHITES-N, Lango) Project, funded by the USAID. The Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango project will improve the use of integrated health services in Northern Uganda‘s Lango region and strengthen the health system to sustain gains made by earlier projects. The Regional Health integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango project will contribute to improving key population-based national health indicators; build the capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally-driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria, nutrition, MNCH+A,FP and WASH outcomes. JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up high-impact, evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional, district, and community levels. Interventions will include VMMC, virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and condom education and distribution, JSI will focus where the greatest impact can be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence locations.
The Regional Health integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango project is a live-year contract. The JSI team includes Amref Health Africa, Africa CUAMM, Another Option, and The Medical Concierge Group.
Position Description
Communication Advisor
The Communications Adviser role will focus on coordinating Communications efforts for the project and work with key project staff to help effectively communicate results and achievements to donors, global audiences, and stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health and others.The Communications Advisor oversees the execution oi a communication strategy for internal and external audiences to facilitate the accessibility of the work of the RHITES-N, Lango project and the promotion of services and products. She/he plays a critical role in ensuring all RHITES-N, Lango communication documents, tools. and media serve the needs oi the project, while enhancing the narrative oi why and how RHITES-N, Lango adds value to health service provision in Northern Uganda. Working closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Advisor and reporting to the Deputy Chief of Party, the Communications Advisor works collaboratively with project technical teams to ensure that project reporting requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner and to the required quality, including quarterly reports,best practices, and success stories.

  • in collaboration with key project start, develop and execute a communications strategy, which includes audience segmentation, key messages, and a robust monitoring and evaluation component
  • Advise the Chief of Party and the senior leadership team on all aspects of the program's communications efforts, ensuring the program is taking advantage of key communications opportunities and speaking with one voice when communicating externally
  • Work with key program staff to compile, write. and disseminate reports for the donor and other stakeholders. Coordinate the entire process of developing and completing these reports.
  • Manage the full production cycle tor communications products(print, digital, and audio/visual), including copy editing, layout/ design, printing, and dissemination.

  • Master's Degree in Communications, International Development Public Health or a related field is required
  • Aminimum of four years of progressive experience in the area of communications
  • Experience working in communications for health services/commodities is preferred;
  • Design experience using Adobe Photoshop, ln Design, or similar systems is highly desired;
