JOB DETAILS:
INTEGRATED WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (IWRM) OFFICER
Position title: IWRM Officer
Reports to: Resilience program manager
Duty Station: Nakapiripirit and Napak
Job Purpose: Support the water and resource management needs per relevant project activities.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Work closely with NRM/DRR and Conflict Officers as well as the Livelihoods Team to coordinate the development and management of water and related resources
  • Integrate IWRM activities into other Nuyok program components.
  • Promote environmental protection, foster economic growth and sustainable agricultural development in Nuyok operational areas.
  • Promote a cross-sectoral policy approach with project participants in the implementation of the IWRM strategies; l
  • Provide expertise in the MRM field throughout implementation.. -Together with the project/team, design training manuals and conduct community-based trainings as per the project design. A .
  • Develop work plans and reports as per reporting schedule.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of Nutrition program activities. ,
  • Keenly analyze project implementation strategies to identify constraints to program success and provide timely recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Environmental Sciences, Agro-forestry or any other in Natural Resources Management related course with 2 years of experience in natural resource management programming.
  • Diploma in Water Management, Diploma in Civil and building Engineering, or other related fields and 3 years of experience in the area of natural resource management or WASH. -Knowledge on Climate Change and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) is an asset
  • Extensive experience working in natural resources, environmental management, climate change, mitigation and adaptation programming
  • Very good Knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of environment, climate change, water harvesting and/or disaster preparedness.
  • Good knowledge of legal and traditional Natural Resource Management (NRM) laws.
  • Broad knowledge on emerging sustainable and appropriate climate smart technologies.
  • Knowledge of community participatory approaches and community resilience/empowerment.
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Keen attention to detail, follow procedures and meet deadlines and team player
  • Excellent computer skills and very good analytical, information management skills
  • Willingness to work in any of the Nuyok programme duty stations_
  • Proven skills in riding a motorcycle and possession of a valid riding license
  •  Knowledge of local language Nga'Karimojong is an added advantage.
