John Snow, Inc. (JSI), a leader in the field of international public health, is currently recruiting for the Facility Based Integrated Clinical Services Officer. Lab Specialist, Malaria Officer. Nutrition Officer Supply Chain Specialist and TB Officer Positions for the Regional Health integration to Enhance Services- North, Lango (RHITES-N, Lango) Project, funded by the USAID. RHITES-N, Lango will improve the use of integrated health services in Northern Uganda's Lango region and strengthen the health system to sustain gains made by earlier projects.

RHITES-N, Lango will contribute to improving key Population-based national health indicators; build the capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally-driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria, nutrition, MNCH+A, and WASH outcomes.

JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up high-impact; evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional, district and community levels, Interventions will include VMMC, virtual elimination of mother-to -child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and condom education and distribution. JSI wilt focus where the greatest impact can be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence locations.

Nutrition Officer
Job summary

The Nutrition Officer will be part of a dynamic, innovative and multi-disciplinary team of professionals working to improve the quality, utilization and sustainability of integrated health services. S/he will mainly be responsible for the integration of nutritional assessment, counseling, and support (NACS) into HIV/AIDS prevention, re, and treatment services
The officer will plan for and implement improvement interventions aimed at bettering nutritional outcomes among people living with HIV and AIDS as well as promoting optimal infant and young child feeding practices, as per the national guidelines. The Nutrition Officer reports to the Nutrition Adviser.

  • integrate nutrition into on-going project activities including capacity building, clinical care, PMTCT, community linkages, quality improvement, psychosocial care/counseling, supply chain management, and M&E;
  • Support health facilities supported by RHITES-N to integrate and implement effective and sustainable NACS (Nutrition Assessment, Counseling and Support) services;
  • Explore opportunities for partnership with other stakeholders in the area of HIV nutrition integration;
  • Oversee and support the integration process of NACS into HIVIAIDS programs in all RHITESN sites;

  • Bachelor's Degree m human nutrition food science and technology or related field
  • Minimum five years’ experience in community nutrition and/or HIV nutrition programming _
  • Previous experience with USAID-funded projects
  • Strong skills m teamwork, facilitations and communications
