John Snow, inc. (JSI), a leader in the field of international public health, is currently recruiting positions for the Regional Health integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango (RHITES-N, Lango) Project, funded by the USAID. The Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango project will improve the use of integrated health services in Northern Uganda‘s Lango region and strengthen the health system to sustain gains made by earlier projects. The Regional Health integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango project will contribute to improving key population-based national health indicators; build the capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally-driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria, nutrition, MNCH+A,FP and WASH outcomes. JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up high-impact, evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional, district, and community levels. Interventions will include VMMC, virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and condom education and distribution, JSI will focus where the greatest impact can be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence locations.
The Regional Health integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango project is a live-year contract. The JSI team includes Amref Health Africa, Africa CUAMM, Another Option, and The Medical Concierge Group

Position Description
Senior Infectious Disease Advisor
The Senior lnfectious Disease Adviser will be responsible for leading implementation activities that improve access to and quality of HIV services, including community-based HTS, linkages to HIV treatment, TB/HIV co-infection and malaria services in the lango sub-region. The Senior lnfectious Disease Adviser is the lead infectious disease specialist on the project, ensuring HIV, TB and malaria prevention, care and treatment programs are clinically sound, evidence based, and aligned with the priorities of the MOH,USAID, PEPFAR, PMI, and other stakeholders. S/he will have supervisory responsibilities over the HIV Advisor for Testing and Treatment and the HIV Advisor for Prevention Services.
Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for RHITES N-Langoon adult and pediatric HIV care and treatment, TB/HIV and malaria services;
  • Provide technical input and expertise in sustainable HIV care and treatment, TB/HIV and malaria service provision to the target populations;
  • Develop/access, disseminate, and. ensure operationalization in training materials and systematically update technical and other staff on HIV care and treatment, TB/HIV and malaria services:
Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • MD or equivalent. with training in HIV care and treatment and in HIV care and treatment and TB/HIV;
  • Masters degree in Public Health or other related fields; infectious disease training is an added advantage.
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of both Ugandan and global guidelines for HIV. TB, malaria and other infectious diseases;
