John Snow, Inc. (JSI), a leader in the field of international public health, is currently recruiting for the Facility Based Integrated Clinical Services Officer. Lab Specialist, Malaria Officer. Nutrition Officer Supply Chain Specialist and TB Officer Positions for the Regional Health integration to Enhance Services- North, Lango (RHITES-N, Lango) Project, funded by the USAID. RHITES-N, Lango will improve the use of integrated health services in Northern Uganda's Lango region and strengthen the health system to sustain gains made by earlier projects.

RHITES-N, Lango will contribute to improving key Population-based national health indicators; build the capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally-driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria, nutrition, MNCH+A, and WASH outcomes.

JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up high-impact; evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional, district and community levels, Interventions will include VMMC, virtual elimination of mother-to -child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and condom education and distribution. JSI wilt focus where the greatest impact can be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence locations.

Position Description
Supply Chain Specialist
Job Summary
The Supply Chain Specialist is a full-time position and will be based in Lira, Uganda. S/he will serve as the supply chain resource on the project, overseeing and coordinating in country supply chain strengthening activities to improve the availability of key commodities.
S/he will provide technical guidance and assistance on logistics system design, logistics management information systems (LMIS). LMIS data management for HIV/AIDS and TB, maternal and child health, reproductive health and family planning commodities. S/he will provide training, monitoring and supervision, forecasting and quantification, pipeline monitoring and procurement planning. S/he will report to the Senior HSS Adviser.

  • Strengthen commodity (pharmaceutical & laboratory) logistic management, information management and tracking at health facilities through Supervision Performance Assessment and Recognition Strategy (SPARS) implementation, and use of electronic systems such as DHIS-2 for web-based ordering systems Rx Solutions and open MRS;
  • Support the health facilities with in the region to effectively implement the differentiated service delivery models for HIV infected clients in care by ensuring constant availability of commodities;
  • Ensure the National Logistics Management information systems ILMIS) is kept up to date at all health facilities within the RHITES-N, Lango region;
  • Determine the training needs including identification of potential medicine management supervisors and develop the modules for capacity building of health care workers involved in supply chain management within the region;

  • Bachelor‘s degree or higher in public health. Supply chain or related field
  • At least five years of experience working in supply chain management of HIVIAIDS treatment and prevention TB, Family Planning and MNCH Health commodities in the public or private sector
  • Experience with MOH and other donor agencies Experience in logistics/supply chain management and/or public health commodities, especially malaria and laboratory commodities
  • Solid understanding of the health system in Uganda Experience in working with USAID-funded projects.
