JOB DETAILS:
WASH OFFICER
Position title: WASH Officer
Reports to: Nutrition Program Manager
Duty Station: Nakapiripirit and Napak
Job Purpose: Provide technical advice and assure the coordination of all project activities related to water, hygiene and sanitation.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Plan, facilitate and conduct behavioral change activities using recommended approaches in collaboration with community health workers
  • Closely follow up and monitor behavioral change activities implementation and their output/outcome within the Nuyok implementation area.
  • Initiate, plan and provide training on personal hygiene, water storage and handling and hand washing.
  • Carry out assessments related to WASH in the program implementation area.
  • Create and organize the hygiene clubs and WASH committees towards the sustainability of WASH infrastructure and services in the Nuyok programme areas.
  •  Create networking and partnership with relevant partners operating within the district level to enhance WASH behavioral Change promotion.
  • Facilitate data collection, analysis and interpretation of WASH related data at district and village levels and safekeeping gathered information in the WASH database.
  • Participate in development of work plans and provide reports as per reporting schedule.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of WASH program activities. l
  • Keenly analyze project implementation strategies to identify constraints to program success and provide timely recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor in Public Health, Social Works, Development Studies or any related fields with a minimum of one year experience in water, sanitation and hygiene.
  • Diploma in Civil and building Engineering, Public health, Water Management, or other related fields and 2 Years of working experience in a WASH project.
  • Proven experience in Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), Youth Led Total Sanitation (YLTS) and PHAST (Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation)models.
  • Good understanding of public administration of the Water and Health Sectors.
  • Very good knowledge of water quality and treatment technologies. ,
  • Demonstrated skills in networking, education and community consultation.
  • Sensitivity and diplomacy in working with socially disadvantaged communities and government agencies.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with information management systems.
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines and work cooperatively with team members.
  • Willingness to work in any Nuyok programme/duty stations.
  • Proven skills in riding a motorcycle and possession of a valid riding license or willingness to acquire.
  • Knowledge of local language (Nga’Karimojong) is a MUST.
