In all we do, Oxfam works with partner organizations andalongside vulnerable women and men to end the injustices that causepoverty.
Oxfam started working in Uganda in the 19605. Since then, we haveimplemented both development and humanitarian programmes to supportpractical and innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty.
We work with local stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the root causeswhich keep people in poverty. Oxfam is currently collaborating with theGovernment, UN Agencies and other stakeholders to respond to thecontinuing influx of refugees from neighboring countries.Oxfam envisions a Uganda tree of extreme inequality and injustice; asociety where citizens and particularly women across all age groups claimand exercise their rights and responsibilities and can influence decisionsthat affect their lives.
Our one country program aims to promote women's rights, goodgovernance and accountability, resilient livelihoods, as well as enhancepreparedness, reduce vulnerability to disaster and ensure an effectiveresponse to humanitarian crises.
The Role
The position is accountable to the Oxfam Regional Director for Horn,Eastern and Central Africa (HECA) for the delivery, efiective management(which includes budgets and planning), monitoring and evaluation, andlearning from the program.

The person
We are looking for a dynamic, charismatic and credible leader with thefollowing:
  • Master‘s degree in a relevant field; _
  • Proven track record of applying new technologies to programming ormake use of existing technologies to innovatively influence programdesign and delivery;
  • Proven track record in influencing and advocacy work at bothgrassroots as well as high international levels;
  • Significant senior leadership and management experience in thedevelopment and delivery of high quality program, influencing andhumanitarian strategy, with and through partners or directly, in oneor more challenging locations
  • Demonstrated experience in mobilizing resources;
  • Committed to a rights-based approach including an activecommitment to putting women’s rights at heart of all we do aswell as the rights of other marginalized people in all aspects of theorganization’s work;
  • Experience in leading and motivating multi—disciplinary teams,operating in geographically remote locations;
  • A high degree of sell‘-awareness and an understanding of howto driveand support excellent team performance and individual developmentin line with 0xfam's values and policies;
  • Experience of managing complex change processes and relationshipsinvolving a wide range of both internal and external multi—culturalstakeholders across a variety of disciplines and geographical areas;
  • Proven track record of success in representing an organization withpartners; government agencies, private sector organizations, mediaand donors at senior level; national and globally;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how institutions such as lGAD,Great Lakes Initiative, EAC etc. work and how these impact on0xfam's work in Uganda;
  • NGO Sector experience in Uganda and in the Region (HECA) is anasset;
  • Fluent in English.
