FH Uganda is actively seeking for a qualified candidates who are committed to its Heartbeat and Corporate Strategy to fill the career openings in the WFP Nutritional project in Palabek Lamwo of:
Job Title: Nutrition Officer (1)
Location: Palabek, Lamwo
Reports To: Project Coordinator
Contract Length: One Year- with possibility of extension
Start Date: Immediately
Job Summary:
The Project Officer -Nutrition will lead a team of Nutrition staff in Northern Uganda to scale up and consolidate enrollment of children 5 years, pregnant and lactating Mothers into the various programs of OTC, ITC, TSFP and BSFP while also ensuring a strong linkage among these programs. He/She shall be based at Palabek, Lamwo but shall from time to time be required to travel to other health facilities to support our Supplementary Feeding Program
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide day to day technical oversight for the implementation of the various Nutrition programs and shall effectively guide the team of Nutritionist to achieve desired outcomes
  • Support health workers/Nutrition staff at various health facilities and established outreaches to manage acute malnutrition among children 5yrs and pregnant/ lactating mothers according to IMAM guidelines.
  • Perform regular on-job mentorship and support of health/Nutrition staff and VHTs in management of acute malnutrition.
  • Ensure that the Nutrition team at health facilities and VHTs are equipped with the necessary IMAM equipment’s and tools for screening, management, referral and follow-up of targeted beneficiaries.
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of relevant IEC materials on IMAM and IYCF.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor degree in Nutrition or related field. Added Advantage for Persons with previous medical background especially in Clinical Medicine and community Health or Registered Nursing.
  • The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years extensive work experience in the field of Nutrition with clear demonstration of having worked in a recognized and very busy project implementing IMAM.
