Background: “From DOT to DAT: An evaluation of 99DOTS to improve tuberculosis treatment adherence in Uganda”, is an 18 months project funded by TB REACH to carry out a stepped-wedge randomized trial to evaluate whether a digital adherence monitoring solution, 99DOTS, is feasible to implement in Uganda and whether it can improve treatment adherence for drug susceptible TB. The study will be carried out at 18 TB diagnostic and treatment units in 15 districts in Uganda. The trial anticipates using routinely collected data to assess outcomes for a total of 2300 patients treated for drug susceptible TB. The project seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Study Coordinator to oversee ongoing study activities. The position requires well-developed academic, managerial, and interpersonal skills to fulfill the following key responsibilities:

Duties and purpose of position:
  • Provide training and Supervision of research personnel in day-to-day conduct of study;
  • Develop study documents including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Coordinate timely submission of applications to local research ethics committees.
  • Coordinate and participate in high quality data collection and cleaning;
  • Ensure availability of study logistics in line with the study approved budget
  • Maintain smooth communication with both international investigators and local collaborators;
  • Provide timely project reports;
  • Ensure compliance to the approved study protocol
  • Ensure smooth implementation of the study protocol
  • Contribute to the writing of research proposals and publications;
Minimum Qualifications Required:
  • Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, or management 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience coordinating research involving international collaborators
  • Proficiency in English
  • Graduate training in global health, or monitoring and evaluation.
  • 2-3 years’ work experiences as a full time research staff or project coordinator;
  • Experience in writing reports and proposals and publishing research findings;
  • Minimum 1 year commitment
  • Availability from 1st August 2018.
