The American Refugee Committee (ARC) works with its partners and constituencies to provide opportunities and expertise to refugees, displaced people and host communities – to better survive conflicts and crisis, and to rebuild lives of dignity, health, security and self-sufficiency. ARC presently works in and with partners in ten countries globally. ARC has been operational in Uganda since 1994, and today has a strong and committed team of over 130 regular, full time national staff and partners. The overall goal of the Uganda program is to improve the well-being and self-reliance of the displaced refugee populations by ensuring the provision of basic services (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Community Services; SGBV/Protection; Child protection; Mental Health & Psychosocial support), currently in six refugee settlements - Nakivale, Oruchinga, Kyaaka II, Kyagwali, Bidi Bidi and Palabek - in Uganda. ARC is looking for competent, qualified, self-driven and committed individuals to be part of and contribute to accomplishing our ambitious and exciting 2018/2019 programming – several challenging full time positions, across the various refugee settlement sites as well as at the ARC main office – Kampala, Uganda:
Job Title: MHPSS Coordinator (1 position)
Reports to: Senior Program Coordinator
Location: Kampala.

Job summary
The MHPSS Technical Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing ARC’s current MHPSS programming, develop new partnerships to expand ARC’s ability to provide MHPSS services to greater numbers of refugees and host communities, and participate actively in national and regional MHPSS Coordination events.
Minimum qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry or related field is essential.
  •  A minimum of 5 years’ experience in development or humanitarian sector MHPSS programming, preferably in leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Uganda and regional MHPSS funding mechanisms, priorities, and emerging opportunities, potential partners.
  • Strong proposal writing skills.
