JOB DETAILS:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, knowledgeable and skilled Ugandans to fill the vacancies that exist in the Ministry of Works and Transport Force Account project.

Force Account is a support project towards the development and maintenance of the National Road network in Uganda. It is an approach by the Ministry of Works and Transport to ensure cheaper, faster and effective way of developing Road network in Uganda.

Applicants should be willing to work in any part of the country by normal posting instruction.

Title: 2 Laboratory Assistants
Age: 25 to 55 years
Scale/Salary: FA7
Reports To: Civil/Mechanical Foreman

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have an Ordinary Diploma in Laboratory Science Technology or Science Laboratory Technician Certificate or Equivalent qualifications;
  • Must have relevant working experience of at least 2 (two) years practical experience in laboratory work; and
  • Knowledge of Computer applications is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Carry out soil and other materials testing for road and building construction;
  • Ensure proper handling and safe custody of equipment and test samples; and
  • Support work using innovative and sustainable building materials, in particular lime based products such as lime mortars
  • Give advice on design, construction and provision of research and laboratory equipment.
  • Supervise and demonstrate the safe usage of Laboratory equipment.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of a clean and safe workshop environment and to check, clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisors from time to time.
