JOB DETAILS:
The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases through research and capacity development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
In order to achieve the above mission, the PCT Department, JMEDIC programme, and Call for Life Project seek to recruit Locum Medical Officers as indicated below;

Job Title : Locum Medical Officer

Reporting : Team Leader

Job Summary
The medical officer will, in accordance with the ART Long Term (ALT) cohort study protocol, ensure provision of quality HIV/AIDS care and follow up of cohort patients and other related Infectious diseases by performing their clinical evaluation, treatment and follow up monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out clinical reviews, investigation and treatment and follow up of cohort patients as laid out in the study protocol and clinic care guidelines.
  • Arrange and make appropriate referral of patients requiring additional clinical evaluation and treatment.
  • Carry out appropriate review of patients records and investigation results to ensure institution of appropriate care
  • Participate as a full member of the clinic team
  • Attend clinic and study meetings as required
Educational Requirements:
  • Degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery
  • Completion of Internship
  • Full and up-to-date registration with the UMDPC
  • Additional training in HIV/AIDS care and opportunistic infections
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience and up-to-date technical knowledge of HIV/AIDS clinical care and ART and related infectious diseases.
  • Previous experience in medical research work
  • Understands client confidentiality and exhibits high level of ethical conduct
  • Good communication, organization and management skills
  • Basic computer literacy including word processing, excel, internet and power point
