JOB DETAILS:
The
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent, humanitarian
organization working on all aspects of the refugee cause in more than 36
countries throughout the world. The aim of DRC is to protect refugees
and internally displaced persons (IDPs) against persecution and to
promote durable solutions to the problems of forced migration, on the
basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC works in
accordance with the UN Conventions on Refugees and the Code of Conduct
for the ICRC and NGOs in Disaster Relief.Job Summary: The Human Resource Officer will ensure smooth running of the day to day human resource activities for the entire country program. The position gives support with recruitment, Employment relations, Performance Management, HR Reporting and Office Administration, Ensuring consistent Approach and high quality HR Standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting
- Consolidate all HR API reports received from the field and Country office and submit to the HR/Administration Manager by the 5th of every month for review and updating before final submission.
- Ensure that timesheets for all national staff are dully submitted and maintain the time sheet tracker which should be shared on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare all national staff contracts and contract amendments with support from the HR.
- Follow up on staff contracts and other staff documents in Liaison with Field HR focal persons and ensure that all the documentation is dully filed by the HR Assistant.
- Regularly update the contract status tracker and submit it on a quarterly basis.
- Regularly update the ERP-HR Data worksheet on a daily basis.
- Support the interview process and ensure participation in oral interview sessions in country office recruitments in close liaison with the recruiting managers and ensure compliance to the recruitment processes.
- Manage Workman’s/ Group Personal Accident insurance scheme and address all grievances pertaining to occupation insurance.
- Responsible for liaising with all employees on expediting their DRC uniforms purchase process.
- Manage the medical insurance for national staff, this includes timely renewal, payment of invoices, tracking credit notes from provider. Also responsible follow up on staff queries and challenges experienced with medical provider and escalating this to HR and Administration Manager.
- Coordinate the orientation process and help new staff with on-boarding.
- Coordinate provision of the working tools to all new hires e.g. laptop, phone where necessary among others (Officers and Assistants).
- Prepares all briefing schedules checking with the briefers and also follow up to ensure that all new staff have been fully oriented.
- Conduct the HR orientation for all joiners at Country Office.
- Follow up on field orientation and on-boarding compliance for all field locations.
- Review leave applications and manage the leave tracker for all national staff.
- Address any leave management grievances for all national staff.
- Work closely with the IT Specialist to update the office directory on a monthly basis.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor from time to time.
- The ideal candidate for the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Human Resource Officer job placement should hold a Degree in Human Resource Management, with a post graduate Diploma or Master’s Degree in HRM as an added advantage.
- Professional membership to the Human Resource Association is desirable.
- Five years of work experience in relevant field INGO or other agencies
- Strong knowledge of Human Resource Information Management systems.
- Proven ability in the implementation of large-scale programs.
- High integrity, pro-active, stable, robust character and a good team-player
- Highly motivated, results-oriented, and with well-developed problem-solving skills.
- Ability to cope with heavy workloads and to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of computers: word processing, database management packages.
