JOB DETAILS:
Diakonia seeks to recmit a Finance Officer who will be responsible for providing day-to-day leadership on financial management aspects of the humanitarian project including budget monitoring and compliance, procurement, and logistics. The Finance Officer will establish and maintain sound financial management practices and ensure the project's compliance with Diakonia and GWED-G procedures, rules and regulations. The position will be based at GWED-G Offices in Gulu District. Diakonia and GWED-G have received funds to implement a six (6) months humanitarian project that will be implemented in Amuru District.
JOB DESCRIPTION FORA FINANCE OFFICER

Job Title: Finance Officer
Location GWED-G Office, Gulu District
Reports To: Grants and Compliance Officer

Overall purpose
Provides day-to-day leadership on financial managementbaspects of the humanitarian project

Roles &Responsibilities
Financial Management
  • Ensure sinct adherence and compliance to financial control systems, policies and procedures
  • Manage cash controls as well as maintain up-to-date book keeping for the project.
  • Ensure timely maintenance of the general and subsidian; ledgers.
  • Ensure all expenses are within approved project budget.
  • Preparation of project financial statements as required.
  • Ensure that financial transactions are properly updated and recorded.
  • Ensure data integrity in all financial reporting.
  • Review financial paperwork and procedures and make sure that all transactions are sufficiently supported.
Procurement and Logistics
  • Design a humanitarian procurement plan for the project
  • Maintain a procurement register tor the project
  • Ensure that all procurements comply with policy guidelines and best practice
  • Ensure that all procurement take into consideration value for money
  • Ensure that transport management system for the project is well managed
  • Maintain up to date assets register including undertaking annual asset inventory
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or equivalent qualification. Part-qualification from recognized accountancy body CPNACCA is an added advantage

Relevant Experience
  • At least 3 years offinance and administration experience gained from a humanitarian non-profit organization handling donor funds
