Position: Legal Officer (1 position).
Reports to: Program Manager
Location: ARC Nakivale Office
Job summary:
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Legal Officer will be responsible for monitoring the general security situation and follow up on the structures entrusted with security watch in the settlement; monitoring community structures in handling cases within their jurisdiction; accompanying persons of concern / witnesses to courts of judicature as needed; periodically visit detention centers and monitor the welfare of the detained; providing legal counseling to persons of concern; cooperating with the police and other implementing partners in monitoring crime and providing periodical reports regarding the same.

Minimum qualifications:
• A university degree in Bachelor of Laws (LLB) & a Post graduate Diploma in Law with at least 3 years’ experience working with IDPs, Asylum seekers, refugees and stateless persons on legal matters.
• Ability to conduct comprehensive interviews and provide accurate legal related assessments.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
• Must be able to ride with a valid license.
