JOB DETAILS:
University Research Co, LLC (URC), a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is implementing the USAID’s Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services in East Central Uganda Activity (USAID’s RHITES EC). The purpose of this project is to support the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated investment in regional health, HIV/AIDS and nutrition assistance. This five-year activity targets 12 districts in East-Central Uganda with an estimated total population of 4.1 million through a district-based integrated package of quality health, HIV/AIDS, nutrition and child development services. URC is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following position;
Position: IT Officer (Jinja)
Job Purpose: The IT Officer under the supervision of the IT Support Specialist will assist perform a variety of moderately complex information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology department. Monitors, operates, or coordinates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals to achieve desired results. He or she will provide information to staff on established policies and procedures, or services provided..

Job Specifications: Thejob holder should have: {1} Specific Responsibilities: - at Provides assistance in the use of personal computer hardware, software, and specialized mainframe technology or operates a multi-platform computer environment or monitors the production scheduling, execution, and successful completion of production jobs; b} Assist in setting up and configuring desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security level in consultation with IT Support Specialist; c} Installs software and installs and repairs hardware and peripherals as directed: d} Assist Troubleshoot. diagnose problems, implements corrective action procedures within prescribed guidelines and for escalates to other technical resources as appropriate; e} Provides basic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for computer equipment {e.g. microcomputers, disk drives, and laser printers} and may assist with testing personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problems; f} Assist set up and submit production jobs and edits and debugs computer output with support from the IT Specialist.

Required Experience and Qualifications: - {a} Minimum of BSc Information Technology (b) Three or more years ot related experience with computers and providing customer senrioe in a technology environment; c)Computer Operafions training, or experience in a multi-operation system or production control environment preferred. {d} Knowledg in hardware maintenance and repairs; (e) Expenence working tor an NGO is an added advantage
