JOB DETAILS:
Our client a leading Financial Services Group with operations in East Africa is looking for a Managing Director (MD) for their subsidiary company in Uganda. The MD will be responsible for providing overall business strategic leadership and execution to achieve sustainable growth and profitability of the Company. The MD will be responsible we as accountable for all operations and functions of the business working closely with the Board of Directors and the Senior Management Team (SMT) providing overall strategic leadership and execution to achieve sustainable growth and profitability in the Company..

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the strategic direction of the business, with strong focus on cross functional operations and departments, networking across internal and external boundaries;
• Providing overall leadership and vision in developing sustainable long-term growth and strategic direction for the business;
• Managing the development of the business in terms of product set and distribution (including economic viability)
• Manage key external relationships to create a supportive brand, inclusive of media and marketing strategies;
• Developing and maintaining a sound, effective organisational culture, and values, ensuring capable management succession, as well as staff development and progression through training and development programs;
• Advising the Board on business plans and operational issues, and leading the implementation of the Board’s decisions;
• Developing, maintaining, nurturing and managing, and building trust based relationships with all the Company’s important internal and external stakeholders, including government, regulatory authorities and employees;
• Continuously analyse all the business risks and determine strategies for managing them and ensuring that the Company’s assets are always adequately safeguarded and maintained; and
• Overseeing all operations, functions and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results, which are consistent with the Company’s overall strategy and mission.

Qualification and Experience
• The ideal candidate must be a prudent manager and inspiring leader, a strategic thinker with business acumen with at least ten (10) years relevant senior business leadership and management experience in a reputable company or organisation;
• Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles;
• Familiarity with diverse business functions such as marketing, PR, HR, Finance etc;
• In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices;
• An entrepreneurial mind-set with outstanding ' organizational, leadership, analytical and problem solving skills;
• Excellent communication, presentation and public speaking skills; and
• A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or any other related discipline plus a Master’s degree in Business Management Administration or Leadership.
