The USAID funded Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango Project (RHITES-N, Lango) is operating in the nine districts of the Lango sub-region of northern Uganda (Alebtong, Amolatar, Apac, Dokolo, Kole, Kwania, Lira, Otuke and Oyam).
RHITES-N, Lango will increase the effective use of sustainable health services in the region. The Project is led by John Snow, Inc. in partnership with African Medical and Research Foundation (Amref), and Doctors with Africa (CUAMM), The Medical Concierge Group (TMCG) and another Option. The project will contribute to measurable improvements in key Ugandan national health indicators (HIV; tuberculosis [TB]; malaria, maternal, newborn, and child health [MNCH]; family planning [FP]; water, sanitation, and hygiene [WASH]; and nutrition).
The USAID RHITES-N, Lango Project, in partnership with Ministry of Health, Apac District Local Government wishes to recruit the under listed staff to support Apac Hospital to run ART clinic. The successful applicants will be recruited on contract basis and will be remunerated according to the Government of Uganda pay scales.
REPORTS TO: Nurse Offi cer
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Nursing Assistant and Support Staff
LOCATION: Apac Hospital
To provide quality nursing services to patients and participate in implementing public health interventions in the community..

Job Responsibilities:
• Receiving, registering and preparing patients for diagnosis.
• Providing quality nursing care and treatment to patients.
• Observing and keeping proper records about the patients.
• Participating in Doctors/Clinical Offi cers Ward rounds.
• Participating in bedside nursing procedures as a member of the caring team.
• Prepare patients for meals and participating in serving them.
• Maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the patients.
• Supervising and appraising Nursing Assistants and support staff.
• Sensitizing patients and their attendants about basic health care practices.
• Compiling and submitting daily nursing care service activity reports.
• Nursing service care to patients provided.
• Prescribed treatment to the patients administered.
• Ward/health unit activities implemented and Medical complications reported.
• Patients’ record on admission, discharge and death kept.
• Daily nursing care service activity reports written and submitted to the relevant authorities.
• Nursing Assistants and support staff supervised and their performance appraised.

Job Qualifications:
• Must have Enrolled Nursing Certifi cate or equivalent from a recognized Institution.
• Must be registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same fi eld
• Experience in providing HIV / AIDS and TB prevention and care services
