Job Title: Finance and Administration Manager
Reports to: Country Director (Indirectly reports to the Regional Finance & Administrai on Manager)
Location: Kampala
Supervisor Duties: Manages Finance and Administrai on Staff
No. of working hours: 40 hours in a week
Water for People is an international non-governmental organizai on (NGO) that works with people and partners to develop innovai ve and long-lasi ng solui ons to the water, sanitai on, and hygiene problems globally. The organization strives to continually improve, experiment with promising new ideas, and leverage resources to muliply its impact.
The Finance and Administrai on Manager is required to use her/his skills and experience to oversee the fi nance and administrai on functions of the Uganda Country Program. This posii on is based in Kampala, Uganda, and reports to the Country Director

The Finance and Administrai on Manager serves on the Country Program leadership team. The Finance and Administrai on Manager demonstrates a strong understanding of organizational mission, vision, values, policies, procedures, and strategic goals as well as trust and teamwork in all aspects of Water for People business.
• Standard work week of 40 hours
• Normal office environment.
• Position requires travel to program sites to support partners and country program teams..

Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain the accouni ng system of Water for People Uganda consistent with fi nancial regulai ons, rules, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain i mely and accurate fi nancial statements and reports that are appropriate for users such as Headquarters, funding partners, and the
• Regional office in accordance with accouni ng principles, and in the case of funding partners, in accordance with contract agreements.
• Facilitate effi cient communicai on and process navigai on between the Uganda CP, Regional office, and Headquarters.
• Prepare and submit as per policy monthly fi nancial results and manage the cash fl ow including preparai on of cash fl ow forecasts and wire transfer requests in accordance with policy.
• Implement the fi nancial procedures manual and ensure compliance to accounting policies and procedures by all staff.
• Prepare monthly payroll funci ons to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organizai on are met including fi ling of annual returns, submission of PAYE, NSSF, benefits remit ances, and other relevant taxes on i me.
• Prepare all suppori ng informai on for the annual external audit, internal audits, and donor specifi c audits and liaise with the Regional Finance and Administrai on Manager, Headquarters, and the external auditors as necessary.
• Reconcile all bank and investment accounts.
• Provide guidance in the acquisii on of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amori zed, and disposed of as appropriate.
• Prepare the annual budget in consultai on with the Country Director, the Program Manager and Regional Finance and Administrai on Manager.
• Assist the Country Director and the Program Manager with the preparation of budgets for funding applicai ons while aligning with theGrant Management process and current year intiaitives.
• Ensure all grant accouni ng and repori ng is maintained within the financial system as per the Grant Management process and donor requirements.
• Maintain fi nancial records for each project including in-country funded projects in a manner that facilitates the preparai on of monthly management reports.
• Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organizai onal risks are minimized.
• Effectively handle banking relai onships, including negoi ai on of exchange rates.
• Maintain and oversee fi nancial accouni ng systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and pet y cash. Including but not limited to all accruals, prepaids, depreciai on, and intercompany transaci ons as per fi nance policy and standards as set by the organization.
• Oversee the documentai on and maintenance of complete and accurate supporting informai on for all fi nancial transaci ons.
• Oversee the bookkeeping funci on including maintenance of the general ledger accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Assist the partners of Water for People –Uganda as needed.
• Supervise the Finance Assistant and the Human Resources and Logisitics
• Assistant to ensure that they eff eci vely carry out their duties.

Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance/Accounting.
• Ceritified/Chartered Accountant fully qualified in ACCA /CPA.
• 5 - 8 years in a Managerial role in Accouni ng, Administrai on or Finance departments.
• Minimum 5 years’ nonprofi t accouni ng/fi nance experience.
• Knowledge of accouni ng sot ware, preferably NetSuite
• Understanding of the principles and praci ces of accouni ng, audii ng, and financial reporting.
• Experience in complex muli -currency transactions is a plus.
• Able to meet i ght deadlines; must be flexible to work additional hours periodically (equivalent time can be taken in lieu off these hours at ai me agreed with the Country Director).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated team leadership skills.
• High level of at eni on to detail, self-moi vated.
• Excellent writ en and verbal communicai on skills in English.
• Knowledge of Internai onal Financial Repori ng Standards.
• Knowledge of Companies Act, Income tax act and labor laws of Uganda.
• Profi ciency in the use of computer programs for Accouni ng and Microsot Office programs including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
