Due to expansion in the scope of our programmes, we are now seeking for qualified and passionate individuals willing to share in our vision to join the team in the following roles. Position: Resilience and Livelihoods Specialist
Report to: Technical lead - Resilience & Livelihoods
Location: Kampala – National Office
Purpose of the position:
The resilience and livelihood specialist will support the Resilience & Livelihoods technical Lead to provide overall strategic leadership in the Resilience & Livelihoods sector, guiding relevant programming in development contexts across Uganda.
The jobholder will contribute to World Vision’s role as a thought leader in the resilience and livelihoods sector; and support continuous improvement in Resilience & Livelihoods programming through their technical expertise, facilitation of learning and innovation. .

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.
Resilience and livelihoods programming
• Ongoing enhancement of World Vision’s Resilience & Livelihoods programming at strategy, programme and project design levels for greater impact on child well-being. This shall include:
• Support ongoing design processes related to all Resilience and Livelihood programmes and projects, including strategy alignment and review processes.
• Monitor programme and project quality at outcome and impact levels, facilitate evidence-based organizational learning processes and promote innovation for continuous improvement in programming impact.
Support relevant reporting functions, particularly at outcome and impact level, notably including the bi-annual Child Well-being Report.
• Support effective implementation of Resilience & Livelihoods programmes and projects through:
• Technical guidance and support to programme and project implementation.
• Technical capacity building of project staff, partner staff and other key stakeholders, as required.
Networking and Collaboration
• Support engagement with key stakeholders for influence, learning and resource development:
• Represent WVU in key inter-agency fora
• Engage and build relationships with key partners and government counterparts
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Grant Acquisition Business Plan through technical input to grant proposals.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
• Education: Degree in development studies, agriculture, economics or other relevant field is a requirement (post-graduate degree is an advantage).
• Technical skills: Academic and/or direct programming experience and expertise in at least three of the following thematic areas is required: financial inclusion/micro-finance, climate smart agriculture, value chain development, small enterprise development, emergency livelihoods programming, cash-based programming.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in field-based programme management roles in Resilience & Livelihoods sector
• Experience with relevant technical models such as Village Savings & Loans, Local Value Chain Development and Ultra-Poor Graduation Model.
• Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation.
• Track record of success in grant fundraising, including donor relations and proposal writing.
• Proactive personality, self-driven and strongly motivated.
• Capacity/potential in leadership, relationship management/networking, and coordination.
• Spiritual maturity, interfaith knowledge and a biblical worldview – ability to articulate and model our Christian identity and mission in an inclusive way.
• Good interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven conceptual & analytical skills, ability to take an evidence-based approach to programme design.
• Proven facilitation skills.
• Team player.
• Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work.
• The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 30% of the time
