Chemonics seeks a Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID Uganda Social and Behavior Change for Transformation activity (SBC4T) based in Kampala. Uganda. The purpose of SBC4T is to improve the ability of individuals. households. and communities to adopt priority behaviors through Social and Behavior Change (SEC). which will in turn transform households. communities. and systems forimproved health and development outcomes. The Deputy Chief of Party shall provide support to implement the overall strategic leadership and including play a vital role in supporting the Chief of Party (COP) for oversight to the project. S/ he shall have depth and breadth of technical expertise and experience. a solid professional reputation. interpersonalskills and professional relationships to fulfill the requirements of SBC4T. Responsibilities include:
• Provide support to implement the overall strategic leadership and including play a vital role in supporting the COP for oversight to the project.
• Assist the COP in overall responsibility for coordination of project activities and staff.
• Liaising and building efiective partnerships with diverse partners and stakeholders around SBC
• Ensure the project complies with award terms and conditions, USAID policies and regulations. and systems are in place to mitigate risk of fraud. waste and abuse.
• Serve as acting COP when needed,
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

• A masters degree or higher in public health. communications/behavior change. social sciences. international development. or a related advanced degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing and providing technical support and capacity building to large complex international projects with significant SBC components. Preference will be given to those with considerable working experience in social behavior change.
• A senior technical expert in at least one of these technical areas (FP/RH; HIV/AIDS. MCH. Malaria. Nutrition). gender and youth required: with sufficient understanding of all these areas to direct integrated. collaboration and coordination efforts.
• Demonstrated experience managing large scale social and behavior change activities in Uganda.
• Demonstrated experience applying SBC approaches within and outside of the health sector; experience with human centered design (HCD) and behavioral economics preferred.
• Previous experience reporting to USAID or other USG-funded programs.
• Previous experience working with local MOH and implementing partners in Uganda required.
• Experience working in Uganda required.
• Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
